Hello sunder

There is in an IO conflict for your Ethernet card on Ur pc. The Only Thing you have to do is Go to Suse Linux & From RPM Utility Reinstall the drivers for the ehternet card again. In The Installation process it will allow you to assign IP address manually.
There U enter The IP address U want and Proceed. If still problem persist then U have to chk phycially Ur Network Card For Loose Connections.

Regards

Ajit

No linuxconf or /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 or /etc/rc.d/init.d/inet files?

grep ifconfig /etc/rc.d/init.d/*
grep ifconfig /etc/rc.d
grep ifconfig /etc

one of these should find correct the setup file. Just edit the file and change the ip address manually.
