is it just me or is it frustrating time and time again to tell people you need more info before you can help them everytime i have to type (need more info) i just want to scream or you if there is a serious post they either leave some smart ass remark or dont even read the post properly and give the wrong answers

it would be nice if at the top of the page and the bootom where you post it told people two things
1. try a search engine or look through the old posts first you will probably allready find your question has been answered and save time

2. if you don need to post leave detailed information to help people solve your problem for you.

and for all you guys that go around pissing in the newbies cheerios
just remember

once apon a time you were an anoying newbie as well.......

try to play nice kids...

allways when a good thing comes along a couple pissants got to ruin it for the rest

wish more people could take after the linux and unix based community it really has shown the best in human kind to see so many people donating time and effort to improve the quality of our computing experience and lives

and big brother should learn to embrace certain elements

if big brother had embraced the hacking community...hmmmmmm
one hackers tended to only be curious not malicious who better to police the party then hackers themselves

i can recall cruising as a kid and the cops telling us to police ourselves and they would leave us alone but if we f***** up they would come in knocking skulls

well it worked we took care of the problem ourselves and were allowed to continue cruising

if they had embraced hackers maybe we wouldnt have 1/2 the problems we do now as far as secrurity and virus probs

anyhow enough mindless ranting on my part

long live linux

Here here!

I kinda get fed up here because people ask the same old questions over and over again and don't bother to look for themselves.

People are too scared of "hackers", the risks of internet based attacks are blown well out of proportion. It's probably because they don't understand anything about it. And we all know, of course, that internet attacks are done by very stupid people who use programs made by other people.

Amen, brother! I have solved more problems quicker by using google than by posting them and waiting for someone else to solve my problem for me. It always turns out that someone else or a whole bunch of folks have had the same problem as I do. It is so much faster to search for the answer. Make a posting after you have done your homework.

When you look at some of the subjects in the boards, that is a very good suggestion. It can be things like "HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" or "Windows" in the Windows forum, and those are only about the most unhelpful things you can use. I also see very long subjects truncated to the first group of characters, and basically nothing in the message body...

Also, as you said, in some posts that are actually well-written and with the problem clearly expressed, someone might just jump in and post a giant thing for example about why they think Linux sucks when someone is asking a question about how to install their Ethernet card in Linux.

We could also benefit from reading more than just one post in a thread, whether it's the first or last post.

Oh yes... my final gripe... people who obviously know English but make very careless posts that are one giant run-on sentence without any kind of organization, proper capitalization, or punctuation. You can't figure out what they're saying because it's too messy, and you can't always distinguish acronyms and some jargon from normal words because their spelling is atrocious and they don't capitalize anything OR they capitalize everything.

Hi guys.

you all can help to raise the standard a little bit.

I think it is not a bad thing to tell somebody to repost a question with a meaningful "subject" or not to try hitchhiking on another posting.

If we stop answering these question and ask for reposting in the correct way, we can probably achieve it.
