I'm doing a project and need to know the advantages and disadvantages of Linux versus other operating systems.

Advantages/Differences # Linux is Faster, Easier to use, more secure, available for almost any hardware, (PC, MAC, Playstation, Palm, Wrist Watch, Mainframes, Alpha, SPARC, MIPS, AMD x86-64, and tones more), Linux is more stable then a windows user can even comprehend, Used it for 5 years only crash once (I built a bad kernel- My bad!), Linux is open source so you can make changes, Linux has Many different GUI environments, Thousands of great Free applications (not shareware), Linux is used my NASA, Google, Amazon.com, Dreamworks (Shreik was made on Linux) because of its power and stability. # Windows has more business, and financial client side software, Windows can be purchased preinstalled at Best Buy (good for lazy people). Windows has good OEM hardware driver support.

If you want to replace some Win Boxes with Linux boxes, what you push is TCO - total cost of ownership. The savings in software $ can be substantial. G.
