Ok I am a Linux newbie and would like some simple advice on how to get my speedtouch 330 USB ADSL modem to work on RH9.

Is there any easy way?

You may want Fedora Core 1 and not Red hat 9, because Fedora is basicly Red Hat 10, and it has support for much more hardware. http://fedora.redhat.com/

There are a lot of HOWTO's for this which can be found on the internet. Try google search,
speedtouch usb linux. I didn't check it thoroughly, but this link does seem usable:

By the way, all ethernet modems don't need special drivers.

I need to know what the default vci/vpi is on a Linksys ADSLME1. It is from the Telus Velocity network so it maybe different from the BellSouth networks and if it is I need to know if anyone knows how to change it.

3. Ask the Customer to verify that the VPI/VCI is set to the Telus network settings:
a. From a Browser Menu
i) From the HOME Menu, click on [Quick Setup]
ii) Click on [Next] (Step 2)
iii) Verify that the VPI/VCI is set for 0 / 33
b. From a Telnet Menu
i) From the Main Menu, choose [QC] (Quick Connect)
ii) From the [QC] Menu, choose [VC] (Virtual Circuit)
iii) From the [VC] Menu, choose [VC1]
iv) Verify that the VPI/VCI is set for 0 / 33
