Hi
I am using kubuntu 8.04. I am on a network
connected through router (using dhcp), the
internet browsers (konqueror, firefox etc)
are working well but other applications
like Adept Manager, Synaptic, kopete are
not working (i.e. not connecting to internet).
Can anyone help me?
Thanks

A few issues issues. One is ports and the other is proxy or network config. Could be the sources it is trying to access. Might be set wrong or to local.

Might have to allow the application in iptables.

Might have to configure each application to your network settings. Most apps use the default settings but some might require you to enter a text file and edit settings.

Might even be the router, I assume it did work under windows.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

I checked the settings of Adept Manager,
kopete, konversation and some other softwares but there were no proxy options, maybe they are using Network Manager's settings, how can I use proxy for these softwares also?
