accessing the web throught Linux

i am new to linux. I have just recently installed Red Hat Linux 6.2 on my computer. I am trying to figure out how i can access the internet, specifically a ftp site, through the linux OS. I have a 14.4 modem and am using a Dial-Up internet connection. If somone could give me a rather DETAILED explanation of how to do this i would be very grateful. Thanks a lot.,,,

If everyone had to serve a detailed description on how to do things properly, there wouldnt be much actual work done. I strongly suggest you read up on how you can make your linux system to work with your modem. Either from a good linux book that covers the subject you are after, or that you check out one of the million sites hosting linux howto'es. One excellent site is www.linuxdoc.org, lots of guides on how to configure differant solutions. And while we are at it, if youd cared just a tiny bit on reading up on linux. You would also know better than to put up an ancient Redhat 6.2 distribution.

Open a terminal and type gftp
If this doesn't work type ftp name_of_server_you_want_to_connect
