I've got a slackware based distro on hdb so my sister was ripping cds and maxed out the hard drive. she then proceeded to reboot improperly so now when i try to boot it hangs because there is no free space. how should i go about getting this thing to boot?

If you are using grub as your boot manager, edit the boot options at startup and add " -s" to the end of the parameter line to have it boot in single user mode. When it comes up fix the problem then reboot.

Alternatively boot of either the first slackware install CD or a live distro like knoppix, mount your root partition and delete any files not needed to make some space.
