when i install itunes it says "warning 1909 can not create shortcut itunes.ink check to see if link is actually there" (or something pretty close to that) then when i try to open itunes from all programs it says empty I can open it through program files though once i do this i tried to sync my ipod it says "the software required for this ipod is not currently installed please reinstall itunes" I have reinstalled itunes twice using the directions on apples website and it still wont work.
There is probably something wrong with your Windows XP installation.
Do a clean re-install of XP and then try installing iTunes before installing anything else.
