I had to replace my hard drive today because it died. Fdisked/formatted and installed OS again. Worked great until I turned it off and back on. When I turned it on the monitor had a yellow tint. It is using a Trident pci video card. I don't know if its the card or the monitor. I don't have another computer to hook the monitor up to to see if it will do the same thing.

It might be the connection between the monitor and the VGA out of the card. Check to make sure that it is secure and that there aren't any bent pins. Also, make sure the display adapter card is seated correctly in the MOBO.

It is extremely unlikely for this to be caused by improper or corrupted drivers, but make sure you have the proper monitor drivers for that model installed, or Plug and Play Monitor drivers installed.
If the proper drivers for the video card or onboard video are loaded, look in Display - Settings - Advanced to see if there is some setting there you can use to get rid if the tint.
If the monitor has OSD settings, or manual adjustment controls, try finding one that will change the tint.
If none of that helps, if the monitor is an LCD monitor, that's a common symptom of a failing backlight.
For some info about replacing a voltage inverter or backlight, and what some typical symptoms are, see response 5 in this:

Yes, whether it is CRT or LCD would be worth knowing.
Just for info, on a very general basis display drivers usually have far more effect than monitor drivers (the latter often just invoke facilities).
In colored light red and green produce yellow. Whatever the fault happens to be it is about certain therefore that it is due to "blue being missing". The suggestions given in post #1 are therefore the most likely possibilities. Monitor itself or card/onboard hardware is also possible, drivers problems are most unlikely.

more ... a friend with a spare monitor can be useful.
It should be OK to prove the point if you simply plug it
in (power off) without any alteration to the software, whether LCD or CRT.DerekW
