Hi there,
I just got a new mobo and chip (an intel D845EBG2 and P4 2.0 GHz), and moved my DVD and cd-rw drives over, as well as my old HD. When I moved my HD I formatted and newly installed Win XP home onto it. I have since downloaded all service packs available from microsoft.
So heres my problem... I cannot get my CD-RW drive (Yamaha 2200E, I bought it under a year ago) to be recognized by XP... I mean it see that its there, but it cannot enable it for one reason or another. I feel it is a driver issue, however when I d/led the newest firware from Yamaha and executed it, it gives youa drop-down box to select your drive, and there is nothing there... I cannot browse, or enter it in manually either. When I look in the System Information it is listed as a "Problem Device".
I have the drive as a slave to my DVD-ROM on the secondary IDE channel... any help on this is extremely appreciated.

Also with Xp certain 2000 drivers will work. If you have the big ? for the device then see if you can find a 200 driver for the burner and try updating the driver to it and see what happens. In any event the ? device needs to be fixed before the drive can be accessed.
