OS: xp pro
CPU/Ram: sempron 2600
Product: amd
Comment:

i just put this pc together with some extra parts i have collected over the months and i got it all together.

specs:

amd sempron 2600
msi mainboard kt4a-v
512 pc 3200
512 pc 2100
ati 9250 video card
350 psu
60 gb seagate hd IDE

Once i finally got xp installed everything was workin fine. Installed motherboard drivers and audio. Restarted and it said a file was corrupt and missing. I fixed that and now it gets to the xp boot screen it just restarts. I tried the xp recovery console and ran chkdsk and it had some errors. And it said it repaired them. But for some reason it still keeps restarting. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Could you post more detailed specs on the psu ?
Can you check the cpu temperature, preferably in the bios ?
What is the FSB at ? The RAM you are using might not be compatible. See
http://www.msicomputer.com/msiforms...
However, it appears to perhaps be a software issue.

psu is actually 330watts, the ram is compatible ive been to the msi site plenty of times and checked. ive even taken one stick out to see if the ram was dead. Cpu temp is around 45C and the rated fsb is 200mhz.

According to the website I listed above, pc 3200 is not supported with a FSB of 200 mhz.

"Cpu temp is around 45C and the rated fsb is 200mhz"

All socket A Semprons run at 166MHz (333MHz FSB). The 2600+ is *supposed* to run at 11 x 166MHz (1.83GHz). I'm not sure if you have the CPU frequency underclocked to 100MHz (200MHz FSB) or overclocked to 200MHz (400MHz FSB)?

"512 pc 3200
512 pc 2100"

You're forcing both sticks of RAM to run at 133MHz (DDR266). Ideally, they should both run at the same frequency as the CPU.

yeah its underclocked right now it automatically did that when i checked it in the bios, after i get xp installed and working ill put the fsb to 166.

Yeah i know that that ram will run at the same frequency. But i only have one stick of each. i would rather have 1 gig of ram than just one stick of 512 running at a faster speed.
