xp repair nightmare

Specs: Windows XP

I need your help. I hope you have come across this one before.

I put my windows cd into my work laptop to see would i get the repair option (thinking I could enter my Encryption Plus password and then have it boot from the windows cd).

All I did was boot from it to the screen where it shows the drives didn't repair or delete, just turned it off.

Now it won't boot. I get 'Error loading operating system'.

Is my data lost forever? Please help me..

No, you probably didn't delete any of your data. Try rebooting to the CD and running the recovery console. First type fixboot. Then fixmbr. That should fix the problem.

Look at the link below to learn more about the recovery console.

Thanks for the reply. I tried your suggestion and now I get NTLDR missing. I tried copying over the NTLDR from the cd but it says could not copy file. I think this is because the encrypted drive is showing up as full even though it has loads of space.
Any other suggestions?

I don't know about how to handle the encryption. If it makes a difference. You didn't post any system specs. Is this a custom build or an OEM like Dell, Acer, HP, etc.?
