Hi,
I'm currently servicing a friend of mine's office computer, by upgrading his OS from Windows XP Home to Professional. Problem is, now that its been installed, it wont start up correctly unless you bring up the screen after the BIOS that prompt's you after Windows has crashed and/or restarted incorrectly. The only way to get into windows is to choose the option to start windows with "the last setting that worked." Also once in windows, it seems as if all the drivers for all the hardware in the system have been completely uninstalled. Every two seconds it prompts you to install random new hardware, everything from video card drivers to mouse and keyboard drivers. And what really scares me is that none of them can be found and installed. And the rare few that are, are just as soon uninstalled after a reboot, and you have to go through the whole shpiel again. It also seems like is random at which drivers it has versus which it doesn't, because every time we reboot different drivers can't be found and different ones are. Should I just try reinstalling windows once more? Is this an error in windows and should just be patched?Any ideas?
Thank You!

right, is this a clean install asin did you boot from the xp pro cd then format your hard disk or os partition completey? if you didnt then i suggest you do so
Q-TEC 550 Watt PSU
MSI VIA KT4AV-L
2800+ Barton 512 DDR333
GeForce Fx5200 128Mb
Aero 7 Lite
80Gb Samsung ATA133 HDD
120Gb WD ATA100 HDD
LiteOn LDW-851S
LiteOn LTR-52246S

The best way to install XP, would to do a fresh install with a format. Copy your drivers and then try that. Or try removing all the drivers and reboot. Then install them one at a time.
