xp hardrive, access it in Vista?

hiya,
can I drop an older XP hardrive into a Vista system to access some files? I dont want to boot from the XP drive, just access it..
(it IS a bootable drive..)

Could put the vista dvd in the old system and boot to the dvd and run explorer on the hard drive.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
