|Since HP only supplies Win7 drivers, you will have to identify the make/model of the motherboard chipset, graphics, sound, network, SATA & search them out.|
I found your board at the HP site:
Chipset = NVIDIA nForce 430
Graphics = GeForce 6150SE
Sound = Realtek ALC888S
Network = Realtek RTL8201N
The above can be easily found by going to the nVidia & Realtek websites. The SATA driver is going to be the tough one. It's easy enough to find at the nVidia site, in fact, I think it's part of the nForce 430 download package, but knowing what to do with it is going to be a problem. You *may* be able to enter the BIOS & change the hard drive setting from SATA to IDE compatibility mode...if not, that's where you're going to have your problem. XP does not natively support SATA & will NOT install without the SATA drivers. Your system probably doesn't have a floppy drive & that how they are *usually* installed. And it has to be done at the very beginning of the installation. Your only other option is to create a new XP CD with the SATA drivers slipstreamed into it.
You're not considering this because you don't like Win7, are you?
