Specs: Windows XP, Pent. 4/512mb
Installed new 80gb hd (old one has malware, severly corrupted) reloaded XP, but needed drivers.
Purchased drivers from HGB computer doctor. Drivers came in DVD-r format and I don't have a DVD drive. Which DVD drive is compatible w/ XP?

Any DVD-ROM that is compatable to your computer's interface (eg. IDE; SATA; USB). It is the drivers that are specific to the operating system.

Drivers are free! All you needed to do was download them from the appropriate site. You didn't bother to list any specs about your system but if it's a name brand computer (Dell, HP, eMachines, etc), all you need to do was go to the manufacturer's site for the drivers.

OR, if it's a custom built system, all you needed to know was the motherboard make/model, then get the drivers from the board manufacturer's website.

OR, if you knew the make/model of the individual components (chipset, video, audio, network, wireless, etc), all you needed to do was get the drivers from the individual manufacturer's websites.

Besides what was posted above you didn't need to install a new hard drive. All you needed to do was format it. You need to get someone to help you with computer stuff. You don't seem to know much.

Where did you buy that DVD from? I think the seller may be actually breaking the law.
