Specs: Windows XP, 1024
My two sata 40GB drives wont show up in XP.

I ran the VIA RAID app that came with driver CD. Now it shows the two drives only when I open that tool.

They do both show up in BIOS.

do you have any other drives installed besides those two? and is one drive not showing up or both? If one drive is showing up did you mirror them because I believe that is what is supossed to happen
it will only show one drive when mirrored.

You need to install the SATA controller drivers using the add hardware wizard. Or you can try to just install the drivers, probably get an error. Get the drivers from the motherboard site.

That is a good suggestion also make sure your bios is set. I had that issue and there was an option in the bios that had either: ide and sate
sata only
or just ide.

Took me like an hour to figure it out

Still trying, went to add hardware, couldn't find anything that looked like SATA or Hard Drives except Satam Raid Controller which I did continue and install that way. No improvment. When I look at the SATA apps either on MOBO cd or web search, SATA goes hand in hand with raid. I mean I can never find a data controller driver that does not include RAID. Is that just how it is ?

Anyway Ill go check BIOS now, thx 4 your help.

You choose the option "have disk" and then supply the path to the drivers.

If still no luck then search the hardware list and choose the closest type.

I think you must have the SATA controllers enabled in the BIOS but check anyway.
