CPU/Ram: Intel P4 2.4Ghz/1024 King
Product: Soyo mobo - Dragon Ultra/
Comment:

I read all the stats and even though the numbers
favor ATI on the x800 xt, I would like some real-
world input. (the platinum edition looks to be
blazing fast)

Power is not an issue as I have a new 680W PSU and
plent of PCI slot space. AGP only, please.

Thanks for the recommendations in advance.

Sabertooth,

Thanks for that comment. Your exclamation points at
the end made me realize that I was just 'settling' for
minor updates on my current rig. I've decided to
build a whole new rig. New everything!!

I'm thinking of going AMD on this one, with a top SLI
mobo.

If you interested, give me some ideas. I will start
researching this weekend.

Some ideas I already had - one 10000 rpm HD to
keep the OS and one massive 7200 for data storage.
2 gig of new memory - not sure what I want on this.
Primo graphics card. I will use my sound card from
my old rig - Audigy 2 ZS. I'll want to go silent on this
puppy so I will need to check into a massive heatsink
for optimal cooling. (I never have been too hip on
water-cooling, I don't trust the leak factor)

Any input? Two head are always better than one! I just got my $8000/yr salary increase - I think I can splurge a little!
;-)

But is it a good 680W PSU??? $150 or more? Hopefully not an Aspire?

I think so. Thermaltake PurePower 680.
