Hello folks,
Just a question,
I am purchasing a cpu and was wondering if a quad core (highest available) is comparable to a dual core 3.2mhz. I plan on using teh computer for multi use - gaming included. I am leaning torwards a dual 3.2 just wondering if i can get some input.

Also whats the difference between the x2 6400 black and the regular x2 6400.

All Black Edition CPUs have a completely unlocked multiplier (both directions). With a standard CPU (non-BE), you can lower the multiplier, but not raise it higher than it's default.

I'd advise against the 6400+. It's a power hungry CPU, rated at 125W. You'd be better off getting the cheaper 5000+ BE & overclocking it.

You can always upgrade to a quad-core when you have an actual need for one.
