I have recently added a second hard drive to my system i bought a western Digital 200gb hard drive however when you go to properties it shows as only 127gb.

Any ideas why this is and how to rectify this!?

It shows as WD200gb on master IDE 1, so all appears to be correct I am running XP with SP2 i have heard that some changes have to be made somewhere in order fo it to register larger sized HD's

You need to have SP1 or greater installed in order to access the full capacity of this drive. You could partition the drive into something smaller than 137GB. Should you elect to do this, DON'T use the tools available in WinXP. Use the version of fdisk designed for disks larger than 64GB.

If this IS a second HD in the system simply Use the tools in (storage) disk management to remove the partition and create a new one, then format. My computer> manage> storage>
