Hello! Can anyone advise me if my puter is worth upgrading ,i would like to get another yr. b 4 going new. It has a pent.(r) D 2.99ghz/512mb. It has really slowed down lately, and i was planning on installing windows 7 when released, thanks for any help.

With 512 megs of ram, a memory upgrade will give you improved performance, especially if you go with Win 7. Post back your make and model and we can go from there.
