This system has worked fine for years. I recently replaced it and was cleaning it up to sell. I had it laying down on the side and put in a bigger hdd.
I did a system restore and installed all the good software programs etc.
When I stand it upright and push the power button I get several beeps and hard drive activity but it never boots. I have to hold the power button in for the 8 seconds to turn it off.
I can lay it down and press the power button and it will boot every time. It just started this since I restored it.

Try reseating the video card if it has one (taking it out and putting it back in). You may have jarred something loose and not have known it when working in the inside. I've done this a few times. Reseat the RAM, and make sure all cables are connected securely. How many times does the computer beep at startup when it doesn't work? Does it beep like this when it's working fine?
