Comment: My friend's computer was filled with viruses and windows was freezing. I did a System Restore, got it back on, cleaned up a bunch of crap and it was almost ready to go. I decided to move it to my house, to work on it. When I got home, try to turn the machine on and it didn't work. The machine turns on, but it doesn't show anything on the screen and I can't access the bios. It also doesn't beep anymore at startup. That's how far i diagnosed: - the power supply is working, the machine seems to turn on, but I get no video signal - Since the machine has a video card, I thought the problem was there. I took it out, tried the video from the mother board. No results. Put 2 different video cards, didn't work. - It seems that the motherboard (ASUS P4SGX-MX) is not working, but I don't know how to test it. Any clues how to pinpoint the problem? Thanks in advance.

Reply: (edit)As it stopped working between your friends house and yours I would say something went wrong during transit. Quite often during transit the motherboard will flex slightly, especially in a not so expensive case, causing components to works loose. Go into the computer and re-seat everything that can be re-seated, especially the memory. Take the modules out and re-insert them. Make sure you ground yourself first to get rid of any static. Check all the power connectors and cables are are fully inserted. Ensure the power lead to the CPU fan has nor come lose, then try again. Stuart

Reply: (edit)Probably killed the motherboard. If there is no beeps, and the PS fan spins up and LEDs still function, It is most likely the board. If it was cpu, or RAM, on a good board it would start beeping and those beeps are usually a code as to what went wrong. No beep, the board is most likely bad. It may be good, but my money is on the board.

Reply: (edit)I highly doubt it's the board. And just to correct the above answer, if the CPU was bad, there would be no beeps. I'm going with StuartS...something was probably knocked loose during transit. Check all the cards & cables, especially the power connectors (20-pin main plug & 4-pin ATX12V plug).
