won't boot with new Video Card

I recently installed an ATI 9800XT 256MB and my computer won't boot, it gives me the overheat siren and then shuts right off.
It ran fine with the old ATI 9800 Pro 256 (until the card failed) and runs fine with the onboard graphics, which I disabled when I installed the new card.
the Mobo is an Intel 865GLC. All fans run fine, and I've never had a problem with my computer's heat before.

Card is connected to the power supply? Are you sure you didn't knock something loose when you when working inside the case?

yeah, the card uses the smaller 4-pin connector. Those voltages are good, and the fan spins on the new card.
I did pull out my dial-up modem when I was in there (gave some clearance for the video card fan). The only other thing that is close to the card is a RAM chip.

check the bios (and clear it if needed as the new card may not be recognized by your bios version). If you are sure it tinst over heating, you can disable the warning/siren while in there
