my computer wasnt booting fo a long time till i realized it was the power supply and i got a new case and it was ok so i installed win2k and i was good and booted and was done so i decided to put a sound card in and finish up so i shut down and put sound card in and mounted drive which i hadnt done before. when i rtied to boot again the cd and hdd werent getting power (coulndt open cd) but the floppy light was on and the cpu fan was running i tried all the dif. power connectors i could but no luck. the strange part is that another cd drive works with that same power cords. i made sure to take all the precautionary electrical measure like taking off the power cord first beofre doing anything what could have gone wrong. i hope i dint fry my hdd and cd please help

did you reset the CMOS jumper on the motherboard while the computer is off for a 7 seconds? or if you cant find it take the battery out of the board for a few minites and put it back in while the computer is off and that will reset the oringinal cmos settings, see if you can then go into the cmos setup by pressing delete if you can you getting somewhere..

well after testing the drive in another comp i figured the drive wasnt bad so i hooked it back up to no boot machine and turned on and it works so my conclusion now is that the drives wont work in the case. my father agrees and says it is a grounding prob. if anyone has delt with this before please help me figure out how to fix. thanks thanks thanks!!

i hate this thing i have both the cd and hdd out of the case and cd is ok i think (it opens) but the hdd is not doing anying except spinning very low for what is is supposed to be it still dont boot what am i doing wrong i tired two diff known working hdd's and they all spinn but i guess not fast enough to boot or something help me please
