Won't Boot From CDRom After I Tell It To In

Toshiba Satellite a55-s1063 notebook

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 2.394 GHz / 1023 MB
And it cut my subject off. Last word is BIOS.

So, I can't boot from CDROM. It recognizes
the disc, but won't boot! I've told it to in the BIOS, got the boot order changed but still nothing. This is a new harddisk with nothing on it. I gotta get an OS on this thing this weekend too! I have two CDROMs and neither are working. ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS WELCOME! Btw, I'm fairly computer savvy, but this has me stumped. So don't patronize me.

First, it's a cd you're trying to boot from and not a DVD, right?

Make sure the cd is bootable. Try it in another machine if necessary.

In cmos/bios setup, the cdrom is set as the first boot device.

In some cases you need to separately enable a boot device even though it's in the boot order. If that's the case, there should be a checkmark by the device in the boot order menu to show it's enabled.

How about listing the specs? I don't think you're asking about a "Toshiba Satellite a55-s1063 notebook".
