i'm wondering if my wireless router is over heating. it is in my piesafe with my vonage thing, wireless print server, printer, and cable modem. randomly i have to unplug it from the wall because this computer won't receive any data from the router. usually it will work after i plug it back in. i was wondering if this would be because it is overheating. is there any mods i can do to it to add like a fan in it or something. i have a linksys wireless 54g if that helps at all.

I sincerely doubt it is over heating...but that is necessary on all routers every so often to maximize speed.

but every day?!?!?! is that normal to reset ur whole internet system every day? it is jsut a pain. i can see doing it once every two weeks or so, but not every day.

You're the best one to determine if it's overheating. Does it get hot? I don't know what you mean by "my piesafe", but if it's a box with no vebtilation, that's definitely not a good thing.

my cabinet would be a better term i guess. but there is no ventalation. and it does get kinda hot. that is why i was wondering if there is a fan mod i can do.

Network gear does put out heat. It's not uncommon for them to be quite warm to the touch.
Convection cooling is all they really need. A gap at the top ot the cabinet to allow warm air out and another at the bottom for the cool air to come in will usually suffice.
Professional network racks normally have two five inch fans blowing air out the top. You could also consider adding a fan to the cabinet.
Personally I wouldn't place a wireless router inside anything. Every obstruction reduces the signal strength.

well, my parents won't put it somewhere else. and they don't want any holes in the cabinet.
what i would like to know is if i could cut a hole in the plastic and mount an 80mm fan and wire it to the router. this would blow on the chip, in theory cooling them off. anyone know how i would do this?

Placing a fan onto the router will only destroy the warranty.
Circulating hot air has little cooling affect. You'd be better off leaving the door open or at least ajar.

alright, thanx for the help.
