Comment:

I installed a wireless PCI( a DLINK DWL-520) and its appropriate driver, but I can't get to work. It's not even detected as a new hardware as a matter of a fact the green LED doesn't come on.
I tried it in the different slots, but still nothing ....

thanks for your help

The LED's don't come on because the driver isn't getting loaded or there is a device conflict or it's just plain old bad.

With the card installed, go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device manager. You need to find the device it that listing. if there are issues usually you'll find a yellow "!". the line will read something like "DLINK DWL-520 PCI card" or whatever. If it's not there try using "ADD REMOVE HARDWARE" it cad auto scan or you can select from a list then load the driver. make sure the driver is right for your OS and that it's fresh (go to DLink's web site and check driver downloads.

thanks rayman,

I did that before, but it didn't work.
And even when I scanned for the hardware instalation, under Dlink manufacturer it didn't show the dwl-520, it showed only the one from my old pci.
I start to get frustrated with this, and odds are lot of people see DWL-520 as piece of junk.
I read many reviews and feedbacks: more than 90% think this PCI is garbage
I really don't know what to do

Is that the only issue with this computer?

I don't usually recommend this but maybe you need a BIOS Flash.

Rayman.. I think it could be bios issue also. the bios may not be set to Auto it may be on legacy support. A bios expert would know.
