Hey guys heres my problem, I am working on a friends wireless system, she brought it over because all of the sudden her wireless keyboard and mouse are not working. they are connected via USB. I have tried turning off the system and unplugging things but its useless because i cannot use the mouse or keyboard to try anyhting. One more note, she said this all started when she bought a new printer, she plugged the printer in and used it once then all this happened. Any advice?

BigShow,
1.) Are the batteries new? (keyboard - mouse)
2.) How many USB ports does it have, and have all been tried?
3.) Does this computer have other ports, besides USB, for them? If so, have they been tried?
4.) Have you tried any other keyboard - mouse, besides theirs?
5.) You've tried it, with just the keyboard - mouse connected to the USB ports, yes.
6.) The specs, of that computer are?? OS, ect, ect
CrazyOne

Hey Crazyone, here are your answers, hope they help....
1)yes the batteries are new, i bought brand ner batteries for everything and put them in.
2)4 ports, yes I have tried them all and I know they are working becuase if i unplug the mouse and keyboard then shut the computer off then plug one in then reboot it recognizes new hardware but i have no way to click.
3)yes they do have other ports I assume if I get a mouse with a non usb connector it will connect fine but that will not solve my problem, but that is what I will do tommorow.
4)Yes, for the heck of it I went out and bought a brand new mouse and tried iy but it did not work
5)yes, I have tried it with one or the other connected, plus I have tried each port individually.
6)it is a dell computer with xp running, not xp pro. I heard that dell only allows dell parts so i wonder if the new keyboard through that off?
Please let me know if this helps
