I have ASUS P5W DH Deluxe MB on my desktop that supports WIFI and I have cable internet. My cable modem is Motorla SB 4100 connected directly to my desktop through USB port. I also have a laptop that I usually connect through Eithernet cable to the same modem.
Question: can I create WI FI network connection on my desktop through ASUS MB and share internet connection with my laptop. - the idea is to be able to go online on my laptop without being direcly connected to cable modem. Thanks!!

Assuming you use Ad Hoc wireless mode, I don't see why you couldn't.

You would have to turn on Internet Connection Sharing, but that seems like the hardest part.

You should be using the ethernet port off the modem for the desktop, your speed will suffer from usb.A wireless router can be found for a reasonable price and can be used to connect laptop and desktop both wireless and with rj45 jumper. This will increase security and allow to to use laptop anywhere in house.I think MB is capable of recieving wifi but not as an xmitter.
