Wiping Hard Drive

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend me any free software i could download of the net, which would allow me to completely wipe a hard drive instead of just deleting the pointers like a format does.

I keep finding just trials, If anyone knows of any free software, could you let me know please.
