WinXP P&P does not see Nvidia 6200 AGP card

November 18, 2009 at 11:45:31
Specs: Windows XP
I have a zotac geforce nvidia 6200 agp card on a pcchips M810L MB which worked just fine under win2k; P&P detected it and installed it properly.

Moving onto WinXP some time later, winxp doesnt see it at all.
Had to go back to onboard vga to install XP.

Trying to put the card back in, MB bios spots the card, automatically disables the on board vga and you can see that its working as you can see setup and the initial windows starting screen; after that black screen.
Trying to boot in safe mode or vga mode do not work with agp card in, just get black screen.

Have replaced cmos battery and reset cmos and also re-flashed the bios just in case.
(have tried 010303 and 030308 roms; no difference)

Bios is P&P os aware and allocate irq for pci vga is enabled.

Have also tried a few re-installs of xp; no difference.
XP is SP3.

Any thoughts?

"Bios is P&P os aware"

Disable it.

Well i tried a different bios level between the previos 2 and p&p now sees the agp nvidia graphics card and it installed quite Happily under winxp.

Thinking back, i had to upgrade the bios to after instaling it under win2k to get the mb to work at its proper 4x agp speed instead of 2x.

Obviously something a little flakey about 030103s.rom and 030308s.rom.
Closing case
