Windows Xp Startup/Reboot help

Specs: Windows Xp Sm1
My friend destroyed his computer with a viruse he downloaded that deleted his startup.dil file. he then tried to restart his computer and it restarted & imediatly shutdown. So I whiped his hard drive and did a master boot with his windows xp cd. the only problem is that he lost his cd key and we can not get past the set-up page. Anyone have any suggestions?

Try contacting free number for telephone assistance. You will be asked to give the number generated by windows and then you will be given a new serial number. I did it once and it worked.

Next time do not wipe the drive. You might have ferreted out the Product key with a program like the 'Magic Jelly Bean'.
