Specs: Windows Vista
i wanna make the switch, but see, i had a laptop and it kept crashing and everytime it would crash i had to reboot my laptop and XP, and it deleted everything like drivers and stuff needed for the CPU. Well, if i switch from vista back to XP will i have to do the driver download?

also, my computer runs really slow. i have an eMachine. I ran a performance test and it scored a 2.2 overall out of 10.

here are my statistics .

Processor: Calculations Per Second- 4.2
Memory (RAM): Memory operations per sec.- 4.5
Graphics: Desktop performance for Windows Aero- 2.2
Gaming Graphics: 3D business and gaming graphics performance- 2.9
Primary hard disk: Disk data transfer rate- 5.6

bring my score down to a 2.2. Can someone tell me a link to make this go faster please? thanks alot.

- Jay.

"it deleted everything like drivers and stuff needed for the CPU"

A CPU is a chip that plugs into a socket on the motherboard. The most common are made by Intel or AMD . Hardware devices (chipset, video, sound, LAN, printers, scanners, etc) need drivers, CPUs do not.

You posted absolutely nothing regarding your system specs, but if you intend to downgrade the OS from Vista to XP, make sure to search for & download all the necessary XP drivers 1st. Some drivers are very difficult to find...some may be non-existent.

You might be better off keeping Vista, repartitioning the HDD, then installing XP on the 2nd partition. That will create a Vista/XP dual boot setup.
