I have a bunch of music from my old PC on a external drive

No there isn't. Formatting effectively destroys the data on the disk.

The only thing you can do is see if you can find a utility that will read a Windows disk on a MAC.

If the music files are MP3 files then use the MAC to copy them to optical disk or flash drive. MP3 files can be read by either system.

If there are too many files to make that practical then search for a utility as StuartS suggested.
