My company has just purchased some of your brands of servers(SuperMicro Server 1U) and as a server administrator am finding it difficult to install windows server Operating systems on the Servers.
I have used the RAID Configuration utility to configure the appropriate RAID type(RAID 5) for the server which was successful. The challenge am facing is that upon slotting-in the Windows CD(Server 2003 64 bits), I got an error after windows has copied all the pre-installation file and was about to start installation, the error reads:
Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.
Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to
your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is
correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or
setup program. Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3.
I then exit and change the SATA controller mode in BIOS setting to “enhanced” and I run the Windows set-up again and I didn’t get any error as before but upon getting where windows says I should select partion on which to install the OS,I saw all the four drives appearing independently(The earlier configured RAID5 was no more).
I guess it’s because the RAID controller driver is not included in windows. The Server only came with the followings on it:
Intel 3000/3010/E720/946GZ/Serverboard &
Intel 945x/955x/x965 Desktop/Workstation board. Which I guess is a media for drivers like Graphics and other drivers SCSI/LAN etc.
Please I will want you to give me a clue on how I can get to intal window server 2008/2003 64 bits and Windows server 2003 32/64 bits on the server configured as RAID 5.
