Windows does not recognized/detect my Ex HD

I bought a Toshiba PX1394U-3G50 External Hard Drive 500gb about 2 months ago. About 2 weeks ago the external hard drive stopeed being dectected by windows. When I go to My Computer the Toshiba icon isn't there. I have tired going to Control Panel and to disk management but it isnt detected there either. i really need it to work because all my files are on it. Could someone please help?

I was going to suggest running a Toshiba diagnostic on the hard drive, but it seems that they do not provide one.

Try the one at the following web site. I have read that it will run on any drive.

Be careful! Read the instructions, and do not run any test that might corrupt your data.
