Windows detected a hard disk problem

Specs: Windows 7 64 bit, AMD Athlon, 6GB
Hi,

I bought a new ASUS Essentio Desktop in April 2010 and it was working fine. However, last week, I got a message from windows saying "Windows detected a hard disk problem. Backup your files and replace the disk". Since it was more annoying to see this message once in every 5 mins, I clicked the option "Do not show this message again".

I contacted Bestbuy (where I bought the PC) and they asked me to bring the PC console to the store. Now, I would like to re-enable this message so that I can show this to bestbuy folks. Can some one help?

Thanks,
Balaji.

They shouldn't need to see it. When they run a disk check, it should show it's bad.

Just a follow up on this.

The S.M.A.R.T error was thrown during the POST (power on self test) process and I showed that error to the bestbuy folks. They accepted that the hard disk is dying and had it replaced for free.

Thanks,
Balaji.
