You need to install graphics drivers for your card/chip.

640 X 480 is the default resolution when you first install Win 98 on the PC. If your graphics card is built into the motherboard, then your PC should have a disk with the video driver you'll need. If there is a separate graphics card plugged into the motherboard, it should also have its own driver disk. If you don't have the driver disk, you might be able to download the reuqired driver from a website, copy it to a floppy disk or CD, and then install it on your PC.
