Windows 8 desktop randomly shuts down.

Specs: Windows 8.1
Hello. My computer randomly shuts down. By randomly i really mean randomly, sometimes when its heavy loaded and sometimes when its just running without any load, so its not load-dependent. The problem is that i cant turn it on if i dont turn off power supply on the switch behind and then press the power on button (so the remaining electricity discharges), and then i can turn PSU back on and turn on the computer. Im guessing its something with the PSU rather than overheating issues. Any ideas?

Difficult to answer without any hardware info. The shutdowns could be caused by overheating or just a weak/cheap/overloaded PSU. When's the last time you blew the dust out of your system?

I'm reading your reference to the main power supply as being a wall socket rather than a switch on the computer itself?

Presuming so, and a long shot at that... Have you tested with a new, or at least a "known to be good" power cord?

Please list your make and model number if a mfg. system or all components if a custom machine. Especially the power supply make and model but not only that.
Please install and run HWMonitor to monitor your temperatures so that you/we are not guessing. Post the general results or a link to a screen shot.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
