hello everybody! I am trying to install a lucent winmodem on a toshiba satellite 1710 notebook under win98se with very little succces. In fact the modem itself installs properly with the "add new hardwere\have disk" but without the WDM modem enumerator and thus it is not functioning at all. If I am trying to install the modem enumerator with the add new hardwere than this is what I am geting: "Setup cannot load the installer (modem.cpl) for the WDM_MODEM hardware being installed. Please contact your hardware manufacturer." I have tried to replace the modem.cpl and still the same message but if I am running the "control modem.cpl" the modem installer it is activated. The other nasty thing is that this notebook has no serials only lpt1, usb and ps/2. Even though I am succesful in installing a "controllerles modem port" from the modem's driver package and even though this virtual serial it appears in the device manager\ports the only optoion that I have to put the modem on is the lpt1!!! And one more thing, I am positve that the drivers are ok (I think that I have tried all of them....) so if somebody has a solution it will be very apreciated. Regards, Tavi
