Shalom,

Searching for Windows 2000 driver for a
Compaq 5010US, with an integrated ESS Allegro
Sound card? The Compaq Support page "has" a
softpaq, but it didn't work. It don't accept
and I am trying the default drivers. No luck.
It's for a friend who uses to share with
his kids. It seems to run Windows 2000 Pro
nicely. Just like to use the default stuff
it came with. Since this PC is 'pretty' lol
Is there anyway of just ripping out the
power supply, and slap in a new mobo, with
current equipment? The new boards may fit
this case. Such a lovely case hate to trash
it. Has ANYONE 'souped' up their old Compaq
cases with 'new' guts? :) Let me know.

Can I get a windows 2000 driver for the
default sound chip? What sound chip is in
this Compaq 5010US motherboard? Please
Help?

Are you sure you have the ESS Allegro? HP also list drivers for a SoundBlaster.

Look at the following link:

http://www.esstech.com/techsupp/dri...

This is the web page of your soundboard manufacturer. Identify your soundboard chip model number and download the drivers for Win2000.

I think Device Manager in Control Panel gives you the info you need.
