Win 7 driver for SATA HDD docking station?

February 17, 2010 at 05:39:41
Specs: Windows 7
I have a SATA HDD docking station that works fine in XP and Vista, it was initially recognised and worked fine for a short time with Win7 but error message reported half way through a multi-file copy saying device not recognised. The drive disappeared from 'My Computer'. I tried it again in another (Vista powered) PC and no problem. I reconnected to W 7 PC and all seemed well again but again half way through transfer of multiple files (some transferred intact again) same error occurred. This same sequence has been repeated several times with derecognition of the drive after variable periods of time. Is this possibly a driver problem? I don't have one for Win 7 and didn't need one for Vista.

Does the issue happen in Vista though? Try transferring multiple large files in Vista, see if it reoccurs there. If it does, its not a driver problem.

Have performed same processes on Vista repeatedly - only does it with newly acquired Win7 machine. Will perform backups and restores of whole hard disks all day in Vista yet dies after short time with Win 7, yet always manages to transfer something, often quite a lot, but never manages more than a few GB. Very odd.
