Subject: will this setup burn cd's?OS: n/aCPU/Ram: n/a |
Comment: This is the system: Pentium 233 MMX 64 MB RAM 20 Gig HDD Win 98SE 8x4x32 cd-rw (soon) Question: Will this system be able to burn audio cd's using Nero? The files will me in .mp3 format, I was wondering if the system will be able to handle converting them to compatiable format to play in home stereos, etc. I intend on burning at a slow speed, maybe 1x or 2x. The system is not here locally, so before I venture out to install the cd-rw, I was figuring I'd ask about this first. Thx. Reply: (edit)Yup, the system should be able to burn cd's without a problem, even at "higher" speeds, like 8x :D Note: i won't recomand you try to do other things with the PC while burning... It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice...

Reply: (edit)I have a 200 MHz for a burner at 2x. You should do the following. Shut off anti-virus, screen savers and an other programs running in background. Once you start burning don't do anything, not even moving the mouse. If possible defrag before burning. Create an image then burn image to disk.

Reply: (edit)Sure It'll work! In fact, I have an old computer that's a Pentium 1 358MHz, with Windows 95a, and 32MB of RAM that someone gave me from the dumpster. I installed a CDRW burner, updated the drivers for my Primary & Secondary IDE controllers, and it'll burn at 52X SPEED if you have nothing else running! But for your case, you won't need to update drivers, since you have Windows 98SE. Hope this helps!
