will this processor work for my motherboard?

Amd Athlon ii x4 620 quad core processor

Specs: Windows Vista
I just bought an AMD Athlon II X4 620 quad core processor for my HP pavilion a6720f. I installed the processor into my motherboard (Pegatron M2N78-LA ) (Violet-GL8E.) I turn on my computer and get a message saying something like unsupported cpu installation. Then my computer reboots automatically. I called the AMD company and the technician told me to update the BIOS. So I updated my BIOS to the most current which is version 5.10. I install my new processor again into my computer and still receive the same message. Is there any way i can get this processor to work with my motherboard?? here's the page for my computer specs http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...

It supports...

Supports the following processors:

* AMD Athlon X2 (Brisbane core, up to 95 Watt)
* AMD Athlon 64 X2 up to 6000+ (Windsor core, up to 95 Watt)
* AMD Phenom Triple-Core up to 8xxx (AM2+) (Toliman core, up to 95 Watt)
* AMD Phenom Quad-Core 9xxx series (AM2+) up to 9850 (Agena core, up to 95 Watt)

An AMD Athlon II X4 has different power requirements that your mother board can not support. Try getting an AMD Phenom or a new MoBo.

Not really, you could get a new Mother Board which may set you back another hundie but it would be worth it to get faster bus maybe better PCI EXP slot and better SATA drive support. If I remember correctly it is not hard to up grade the MoBo in an HP computer. Just be aware such an upgrade may void your Warranty unless it has already expired.

what mother board would you recommend me getting for around the $100 range? i bought a PNY GeForce Nvidia 9800GT 1GB GDDR3 XLR8 DVI video card which should be coming in today. I'm stoked. I also have a 500w power supply so power wont be a problem.

The problem is not the motherboard ace omega it's an AM2+ motherboard and it will run an AM3 processor or else he wouldn't have even been able to post. The problem is Hp didn't mircode in AM3 processors to this Bios motherboards cpu support so that it can correctly read AM3 processors which is why he is getting that messege when his computer first boots up.

As for motherboard replacements this one should be good for what you want and then some.
