My computer will not start Windows Vista. Second time this month. Got it going before with BIOS change, but can't remember what I did. Any ideas.

Can you boot into Safe Mode? Hit F8 before the Vista loading
screen comes ot to try to load safe mode, this way you can
get your data or maybe fix the problem. Also, I would try
booting into a recovery console and running chkdsk /r to try
and fix any bad sectors on the drive. If that doesn't help, you
can make a bootable Live CD on a friend's computer.
UBCD4WIN will boot you into a Windows desktop where you
can open your hard drive and copy data to an external drive or
flash drive. Unfortunately, you have to have an XP cd to
create the UBCD4WIN disk...the UBCD4Vista comes out
soon though. If you don't have an XP disk you can download
KNOPPIX or Ubuntu Live, both are Linux disks but they will
get you to a desktop where you can copy files from your hard
drive in a semi-windows-ish environment. There websites
have more info on how exactly to create the bootable CD's.

I wouldn't do the recovery install until you have your data
backed up.
