I am upgrading from a Celeron 2.5ghz to a Pentium 4 3.0E, and I was wondering if my current PSU will work for it.

PSU: Bestec ATX 250W (other stuff don't know if needed, I know the PSU sucks)
Processor: Pentium 4 3.0E
Graphics Card: Geforce 6200
RAM: 256 stick Samsung pc2700, 512 stick Micron pc2700
Motherboard: Biostar P4M80-M4
Harddrive: 80 Gb Ultra DMA

I think that is all the stuff. Thanks in advance, Ill check messages tomorrow.

You've answered your own question. Bestec are commonly found in e-machines and there are literally hundreds of posts in this forum alone where those PSUs have failed. They are cheap and notoriously unreliable.

If you are going to the expense of upgrading other components then protect your investment by getting a good quality powersupply.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

You said that you "know the PSU sucks", then resist the idea when someone suggests that you get something better. Why did you bother asking?

I know Bestec's are noctoriously bad PSU's, but I seem to have a working one so I didn't know if that would factor into the equation....

I have the processor installed, it seems to be working relatively well, so I guess this is a non-issue now. I may get a new PSU soon anyway.
