Specs: Windows XP, P4 2gb
Hi on looking for info about dell 4600i, I see from the spec sheet 3 PCI slots 1 AGP.

I see in forums, people are using ATI Radeon XFX 4650 as a suitable upgrade card.

This is a PCIe- express card, I think? Or does it come in a PCI version as well? So will it work in my PCI slots? As they are not expressly called PCI-e express? Just PCI.
All I want to do really with this PC, is edit HD Video and possibly 3D at a later date, games are not apriority. Thanks for looking.

You cannot use a PCIe card in your PCI slots. I'm not sure if the XFX 4650 was available as an ordinary PCI card, but it certainly was as an AGP one. I suspect this is what people are using. Your problem will be trying to get hold of such an old card. eBay is probably your best bet. There are a few on both the US and UK eBay sites at the moment.

ijack, Thanks for that kind response and so fast!

Yes, this is why I am confused, as I understood the same to be true, yet I have read that people were using that XFS card, so either they got it in the PCI slot version or had found an AGP, as you say not likely as old stuff, still someone is bound to clear this up! thanks again.

HD 4670 > HD 4650. DDR3 > DDR2. Make sure you have a decent power supply with plenty of amperage on the +12v rail.
