Hi I downloaded the general user guide for this model of notebook but am not sure if it has wifi capabilities. I can see in the manual that it has a on/off feature for 'wireless devices' on the side of the unit but I can't see specifically if this model has it installed internally or not. The manual is for the 290 series and not specific to the 290ELC model. I installed XP on this machine for the friend that own's it and I got the wireless driver/application from here http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/fo... Well I had to type on the model. I got the 3 things that mention 'wireless' and match the TRavelmate name. I googled to find out if indeed this model has the wireless thing installed but nothing so far. Thanks!

Oh haven't looked there. Do you mean that it would list a device with a yellow question mark? Will ring and ask my friend as the notebook is not with me.

OK didn't see anything in device manager but I am not sure what to look for. Definately no yellow question mark.
I ran a program called SIW but am not sure what to look for there either. I think there was a section that covered network devices and the Ethernet port is in there but didn't notice anything else.
There is an on/off switch on the side of the notebook for wifi and a led for it. I read about this also in the manual. It did say something about for selected models about wifi and bluetooth so I am really unclear as to wether wifi is part of this model. The drivers on the Acer website were a bit confusing. It looked like there were two different drivers for the same model/use so I installed both. Also the app/software that it said was for wifi seems to be more for an infrared device and not for wifi. Will try and see if there is an acer forum.

OK well there is a question mark for an unknown pci something and video controller. So maybe the unknow pci whatever is the wifi? Anyway the specific model specs are:
Travelmate 292ELC Intel 852GM chip 40g 256mb ram.
Been looking and looking on the net but still no luck.
