Solved Wifi doesn't work after HD install.

Specs: Windows xp pro
ASUS Z3100 (aka Z31N) Notebook with Win XP Pro. HD died and I replaced with WD bare drive.I loaded drivers from ASUS website. For 2 days, wifi worked then disappeared. After that, I reloaded drivers and had no luck. Some Install, some do not and no drivers make the wifi work. (Internal factory installed wifi). Do internal wifi's go bad? and if so how do you fix it?

Yes I've experienced internal wireless adapters going faulty but it's HP/Compaq laptops which are more prone to that, owing to the cr*p components they fit inside them which can't take the heat.

When it fails, it won't be listed in Device Manager any more (not even as an "unknown device" with question-mark), so check your Device Manager.

Having it repaired is not a sensible option unless the laptop still has warranty time left on it, because it would be ridiculously expensive. The easiest fix is to buy an external USB wireless adapter (one of the miniature "nano" types which only stick out half an inch).
